November was an exciting month! Our poets began in-school poetry workshops. It was wonderful to experience the magic of being with the students. Our extraordinary new troop of visiting poets inspired the student poets, providing them with poems and prompts to get them writing! Speaking of prompts, the flyers for this year’s Poetry Contest have been sent to the schools and are posted on this website.
There are some exciting changes for this year’s contest. The prize amounts have been doubled! First prize is now $100 and second prize is $50. As I’ve told the students, we don’t write poems just to win a prize but it is wonderful to be recognized and to attend the award’s ceremony in June. The deadline is February 24th! Please remember to follow the rules (maximum of two poems per student poet) and include your name and all other required information.
